SPIRITUAL BEINGS HAVING A HUMAN EXPERIENCE: A PHOTOGRAPHY PROJECT BY BRIAN CATTELLE

Capturing the beauty of the human spirit through long exposure street photography.

Delray Beach FL – 4/24/2023 – Brian Cattelle, a photographer with over 10 years of experience in the field and 2 years of experience working with NFTs, has announced the launch of his latest project, “Spiritual Beings Having a Human Experience.” This marks his 4th major NFT release to date, and the project is now available to collect on Foundation.

The project features candid street photography from cities around the world, all captured in a single, 1/4 of a second exposure. The long exposure technique creates an image that speaks to the narrative of being spiritual beings having a human experience, questioning the very nature of time and the existence of the physical world.

Through this project, Cattelle explores the concept of what having a soul implies in relation to a physical form. The long exposure captures more than one instance in a single image, highlighting the fleeting yet always meaningful moments in which we pass each other. This visual representation of the soul and the connection we share in the human experience is what makes this project so impactful.

This technique also creates an image that speaks to the narrative that questions the very nature of time and the existence of the physical world.

“It’s in the long exposure that you can actually see that something is there, the single moment has passed, but it’s clear there is more than just a single moment and thus our existence extends beyond a series of single moments. With that in mind, the moments in which we pass each other are fleeting yet meaningful because the connection we share in the human experience which extends beyond a singular moment.”

“I have always been fascinated by the idea that we are all spiritual beings having a human experience,” Brian shares. “Through this project, I hope to encourage others to see the true beauty in their own existence. I want to encourage others to stay open-minded in light of the fact that we know very little of how the universe actually works”. Brian points out that According to NASA, Everything on Earth, everything ever observed with all of our instruments, all normal matter – adds up to less than 5% of the universe. The project is minted in a manifold ERC-721 contract and is currently listed on Foundation.

The 50mm Collective is an NFT art collective dedicated to providing resources and opportunities to historically underrepresented artists with a focus on highlighting BIPOC LGBTQIA artists. As early pioneers in the space, they felt a direct responsibility to ensure diverse representation becomes the forefront of Web3. Their current exhibition “Visibility Gallery” which is a touring VR gallery with a plethora of artists that made its way around NYCNft and soon Oakland.

When I first became a contributor to NFTCulture, I reached out to the founders Raven + Chelsea immediately to do a feature, because not only is my art in the Visibility Gallery as an LGBTQ artist, but I strongly feel the work they are doing is so vital for cultivating an inclusive Web3 for all people. I am so honored and grateful they have agreed to this interview.

Visibility Gallery *link below*

Can you give us a quick intro about yourselves?

My name is Raven Trammell aka Raven50mm. I am an Afro Latinx, trans masc photographer and the founder of the 50mm Collective. I’m also the events manager for Quantum and the community curator for PASS NFT.

Hi my name is Chelsea Quintela the co-founder of the 50mm Collective. Im an NFT Aesthetics artist. Studied and trained in Fashion Design BFA as well as painting in different mediums.

What was your inspiration to start 50mm Collective and what is its mission?

There were at the time, a lot of polarizing groups that did not fully resonate with how I identify and represent myself… trans & biracial. Getting Chelsea onboarded at the same time, we wanted to create a community for artists who also were feeling how we were. We believe making a living as an artist shouldn’t be some unattainable dream. We want to use the tools of web3 and IRL experiences to fuse together both communities.

As the 50mm collective Twitter grew and artists with similar experiences started showing up for each other within the space, we decided to bring this energy irl having the first meta masquerade and the 50MM Collectives first virtual gallery featuring over 100 artists from all around the world. Seeing the exposure for these artists first hand and their work being collected from our curated gallery made us realize the vision is greater than we can imagine.

By curating outstanding artwork into stunning virtual galleries, the 50mm Collective creates an elevated IRL experience for the art community. As early pioneers and leaders in the NFT space, we feel a direct responsibility to ensure diversity and inclusion are at the forefront of web3. Our vision is to fuse curation, culture, and community in a way that enriches the art world.

How/why did you get into crypto/nfts? Overall experience so far?

Raven: I was on Clubhouse trying to learn more about investing in crypto and they started talking about NFTs and digital artwork. I started going to more rooms to learn and also did a lot of research on my own to start. I got active on Twitter where the bulk of theNFT convos were happening. I minted my first piece on Ghost Market (phantasma blockchain) and just evolved from there trying to find community to grow within web3.

Chelsea: Raven introduced me to NFTs and encouraged me to put my art and creations out there. I minted my first collection on Opensea and getting my first sale made NFTs real to me.

The overall experience has been a rollercoaster to say the least, but even with the ups and downs of the crypto market, fomo on all the amazing projects and events, and sometimes burnout; it has still been worth it.The artist connections & watching the web3 space grow overall is why we keep going.

Finding balance is key… which we are still learning.

What is your funniest/favorite nft related story?

Raven: When we met NFTGirl and she said we were the cutest Web3 couple AND when both of our artwork was featured in Times Square on the Godzilla screen! Note: I would like to mention not only did they get to see their artwork in Times Square – Raven proposed to Chelsea at that time which to me is one of the most iconic moments of NYCNft. Love is love.

Chelsea: Going to an NFT gallery show for Gabe Weis and he was wearing a hat with a Picasso drawing that Raven also has as a tattoo. The pure joy of that connection was definitely a top moment to experience.

3 projects you love in crypto art and why?

1. Mutual – they are building an NFT marketplace and web3 ecosystem centering and celebrating trans and queer creators and culture-makers. A portion of Mutual’s platform fees fund direct action mutual aid.

2. PASS – they’re an artist first initiative with utility packed in their PASS NFT.

3. WOE Collective – Women of Excellence  is a woman of color led NFT collection building community, content and curation. Minting soon!

Where do you see the future of crypto art going?

Turning into a lifestyle and touching all aspects of everyday life. From clothing to coffee brands. There are so many unlimited possibilities!

Advice to newcomers to NFTs from what you have learned.

Go at your own pace and start building your community first. Get into Twitter spaces and other live conversations to gain an awareness of the space. Be mindful of your web3 security and safety. YouTube is also an unmatched resource, subscribe to the 50MM Collective ;).

Born out of the Harlem Renaissance in 1920s New York City, zine creation is synonymous with a variety of subcultures, art movements and literature through the decades. For the unfamiliar, a zine in the broadest sense is a self published work of writing, art, photography, comics or mixture of all the previous and usually are made by creators mainstream publications tend to reject or vice versa. With it’s roots in freedom of expression and play, individual autonomy, local community support and underground communication, zines are finding a new vital place in the community on the Tezos blockchain by highlighting artists and writers globally from traditionally underrepresented backgrounds.

Generally, these Web3 zines are simply minted .pdfs. Each issue is available for viewing to anyone who wishes to digitally thumb through promoting accessibility in information, while collectors are able to purchase the limited amount of editions available to support the creators of the zines. Some zines – like The Tickle –  even have subscription tokens in which avid collectors get new editions automatically airdropped to their wallet with extra surprises too like special edition art from artists featured in the zine. As the culture and community grows, more innovation presents itself in distribution models, format and perks in collecting.

While this is not a comprehensive list of the currently available zines on Tezos, here are highlights of a few of the publications that are exceptional in curating artists and writers each with their own niche subjects.

THE TICKLE

At the forefront of the Tezos zine movement is The Tickle – @inwarhol – who recently celebrated its 1 year birthday with 52 editions now published featuring 100s of Tezos based artists and writers from around the globe. Released every Friday and Twitter spaces congruently hosted to speak with the featured artists, The Tickle is a love letter to the myriad of artists that have been working within the Tezos ecosystem. Personally, I love to wander through the kaleidoscope of works and artists that are featured in these pages to discover new artists.

the tickle

The Tickle was founded by @GuysWily, co-created for 3 months with @MaiaMellier and various co-editors including @THorsmeier @JonicolaRush. The team currently is @GuysWily and @monochromatikal with the co-editor of Tickle Lit being @heyghostshoes

CRYPTOFAGO

Cryptofago is a newer publication that stands out for highlighting specifically Brazilian artists. Created by @acatfishartist with help from @_vcntt_ it is published in English and Portuguese to reach both international and Brazilian markets. With thought provoking content to provide cultural context and history for non-Brazilians or audiences who are unfamiliar with the background, this zine facilitates a deeper understanding of artists from the major art market in the Global South. The name Cryptofago is a tribute to the Anthropophagic Manifesto by Oswald de Andrade, a document that was the reference of the Brazilian modernism of the 1920s.

SLOTH ZINE

Created by @burkabayramart and @weird_realm, Sloth Zine is a comic artist focused zine that encourages us to slow down and take a break.  Featuring 30-50 artists an edition with each drawing a one page black and white comic, the creators highlight all the wonderful illustrative artists on Tezos internationally. While comics tend to be thought of as a quick format digestion, each page of this zine feels a meditation over a Sunday morning comic.

HELIX ZINE

Helix Zine – founded by  @arditty & @damlasahinbas_ – is a photography zine designed to be a source of inspiration for each other and to discover new ways of creative thinking. What is unique about this zine is it is a chain structure – where the the first photo of the zine inspires the next photo which inspires the next without each artist knowing who the previous artist. This creates an overarching visual narrative that is a collective stream of consciousness.

MINA ART MAG

Mina Art Mag is digital arts magazine by Brazliian women focused to help build up women artists and voices to equalize representation of women in the arts globally. Created by @silviahmariah and @Art_GiovannaF, the name Mina means “a girl, a woman” in Portuguese to indicate in a straight forward manner the content of this zine. This publication is exceptional in exploring not only woman artists but the issues surrounding women navigating the art world.

mina art mag

RIGHT CLICK SAVE

Right Click Save while not an onchain zine, more than deserves a mention for their work in preserving the narrative and legacy of early crypto art movement and digital outsider artists on Tezos and beyond. Run by @alexestorick under the umbrella of @clubnft – an Artnome project – but editorially independent, this publication is worth a dive for those seeking critical discourse about art on the blockchain.

Where are you from?

I am based out of South Dakota, a state out in the midwest of America. Most people have never been here and I get so many confused looks when I share this at NFT events. Haha But it is a gorgeous place filled with grasslands, forests, lakes and even an area called the Badlands, which oddly mirrors Mars. I will have to shoot a NFT series out there someday!

Can you tell us about your background and what lead you down the path to becoming an artist and ultimately experimenting with NFTs?

As a kid, I always was creating things. Sketching, creating my own newspaper, painting, carving, designing clothing, anything that would intrigue me. I always wanted to keep learning more and could never put myself into a box. When I saw my photographer friends shooting fun concepts, I would pitch them crazy ideas to run with. I eventually learned that I could create my own dreams by practicing photography and learning Photoshop. I was not able to travel to the places I envisioned, so I learned to bring the world to me.

My good friends David Ariew and Chelsea Evenstar shared their success in the NFT world back in March ‘21. I dove in, completely unaware of even what eth was. Haha I originally thought NFTs were some kind of scam/online gallery. But now it is my life full time.

Meet me where black skies feed the tides?

When did you mint your first NFT? What platform did you choose and why

I minted my first NFT on March 16, 2021 on Foundation. It actually sold the very next day! I chose that platform because I had a new invite from a friend and decided to give it a try!

Can you tell us one thing you cannot live without?

I actually have a solid black Spartan helmet that I keep on my desk to remind me to never quit. I can’t live without it, because it is a constant visual reminder for me to stay focused on days when I am not feeling it or am being flat out lazy.

Who is your favorite artist(s) (Non NFT)? What about their style resonates with you? So hard to pick just one! Dustin Valkema is a phenom composite artist who inspires me

with his thematic imagery. He creates such mind blowing cinematic images and also works with cosplayers. He has excellent YouTube tutorials and also shares how photographers can blend their work with C4D.

Who is your favourite NFT artist? What makes this artist unique?

One of my fav NFT artists is Teds Little Dream. He pulls people into such magical worlds filled with story and scale. I am always taken into another realm when he shares his art!

What made you pursue NFT art?

I pursued NFT art because I believe in taking risks. I didnt’ know if my art would be welcomed, because 3D pieces and astronauts were super popular, and here comes a

digital photographer with armor, flowing dresses and mermaids. haha

What is the one piece of NFT art you wish you had purchased but missed out on?

One could always say it might have been a popular pfp, like Apes or Punks, but I don’t believe I have missed out on anything. I believe that what is meant for you comes to you in the right time. I don’t have time for regret, so I just look to the future and know I will have more amazing art as this community grows to incredible heights.

If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go? Why this location? If I could travel anywhere, it would be Rome. I actually already have a dress picked out just for a night there. Walking the streets, taking in the culture, the architecture, under the stars. I feel like I was easily a Roman citizen in another life, because that place holds a piece of my heart already.

What are your other passions besides art? Why?Some of my other passions are vintage motorcycles, which show up in my work often! I love the old vibes they have! I run Spartan races, so I have a bit of a feral soul, since I love throwing spears and blackened steel armor. I also am friends with many wolves and hang with them when I

have the time, they model for me when they feel like it. A wolf is such an incredible creature, but def command respect for what they are capable of. Oh, and serious love for brownies!

Do you make other forms of art?

Currently learning 3D, so taking on that challenge! One of my hidden talents is seeing something small and drawing it to a massive scale by hand. It really has no purpose, but I use to constantly study and draw giant things when I was younger!

How did you come up with your specific style? Watching films and gaming trailers growing up always sucked me in. How they had thematic lighting, their characters, the worlds they created. Every piece pulled me in, so my style is always a cyclone of those worlds, plus anything else that might interest me, like fine art, photography, composites, etc. I want my viewer to look at these pieces and finish the narrative in their mind.

How has your style evolved over the years? I started photographing families then models then started composite work. My style has grown as I have studied color theory, lighting, composition, etc. Always trying to make my next piece better than my last.

What is coming in the near future?

I am still going to do some self portraits, but 3D rendering will give me so much more control than photography can. I will dive into that world more and actually could see myself doing short films, so my worlds and ideas can come to life for the viewer. It is on the horizon!

If you could collaborate with one artist who would it be? I would love to collaborate with David Ariew. He is a master at 3D, so teaming up with him and seeing what stories we could share together would be amazing.

Do you have any upcoming drops? I have a couple new projects coming up. Taking a risk and bringing viewers into a world where I blend 300 and Wonder Woman inspirations. Self portraits with incredible landscapes, animations and effects. Sounds crazy, but it is so authentically me, I know in my heart I have to do it. I even had to do some real life aerial stunts to nail one of my images, so hope my viewers appreciate my passion for it. Haha I also have a 10k project coming soon with 2 other artists! I also cosplay as Lara Croft, so would love to modernize her and create some inspired art bringing a version of her into 2022. It is all craziness, but these are my worlds!

Where can collectors find your work?

All my links can be found here! https://lynkfire.com/GlassCrown

Biggest piece sold? My biggest piece sold to date was for 5 eth to Crip2Dax. It is called Work in Progress. A double exposure photo where I rebuilt the male model using building materials and scaffolding. A reminder to always keep working on yourself, because personal growth never ends.

What was your greatest failure and what did you learn from that? I know my greatest failure was creating NFT pieces that were not me entirely, because I thought they would sell. I felt pressure to make things that maybe collectors would like or would be more popular over just going with my heart when I first started out in this space. I learned

that our NFT world craves authenticity and the worst thing you can do is change who you are as an artist for a potential sale.

Anything else you’d like to share? I would leave you with this. Have the courage to be yourself. It takes courage to be you and not pursue validation or popularity. Be bold in what you create. Be fearless. Never surrender who you are meant to be for anything.

Iconic model / photographer and filmmaker

Steven Lyon releases first NFT drop in Aid of Ukraine’s  war victim children.

“THE FREEDOM DROP”

Pinhole.Art is releasing another incredible NFT collection, this time by famed photographer, film-maker and wildlife activist Steven Lyon.

Los Angeles, USA – March 24th, 2022 — After being discovered by Andy Warhol in Hollywood followed by a legendary modeling career in the 80’s and 90’s. Lyon has since taken up a film camera and has been creating art for over 30 years, this time his subject isn’t supermodels or celebrities like Serena Williams and Chris Cornell. And not even the gritty wildlife images that he is known for, but now combining those images and his artistry stirred by the bloodbath in Ukraine. Lyon takes us on a compelling journey drawing our eyes and attention to the bond between people, brothers at war. The commonality in humans and what matters most to us.

This is Lyons first NFT drop with more coming in the near future. On the collection Steven Lyon commented:

“The art pieces I’ve created from my own fine art works are meant to show the tragic demise of the love and friendship these two amazing cultures had for each other just one month ago. I’ve created 5 NFT pieces that meant so much to me as an artist for their beauty. Now they say something else. I know I won’t be on a plane to bear arms and fight so I created these NFT images with the proceeds going to help the war torn Ukrainian people.”

“There is no flag large enough to cover the shame of killing innocent people.”

                                                                                                             ~ Howard Zinn

100% of the profits of each NFT sale is going directly to All Hands and Hearts Foundation, founded by Steven’s longtime friend, model and philanthropist Petra Nemcova, to support their vital efforts to provide humanitarian relief to the people of Ukraine.

All Hands and Hearts has deployed a team and are on the ground in Poland supporting various efforts focused on enabling the safe passage of disabled children and accompanied children across the Ukrainian border.

Trendy digital art gallery Pinhole.art is releasing the “The Freedom Drop” in collaboration with popular marketplace Opensea, available from March 24th, 2022, https://opensea.io/collection/the-freedom-drop

Pinhole commented: “This is a very thought provoking and symbolic collection of NFTs that we became fascinated with as the Ukraine crisis was unfolding, not only is it attractive for wallets worldwide but, along with Steven Lyon, we are dedicating the profits to help the ones who need it the most- the victims of this catastrophic war. The war has put many things into perspective for us and highlighted over again our fundamental need for freedom.”

About Steven Lyon

Hailing from Los Angeles, photographer, writer and director, Lyon has been considered an enigma within his industry of the art world and a bona-fide renaissance visionary. He has engineered a creative legacy both in front and behind the camera for over three decades.

It was in the early 80’s that he was first discovered by Andy Warhol’s lens as a model for his new Interview magazine. Considered one of the top male models in the world throughout the 80s and 90s, he is still one of the internationally recognized, fashion models of this era.

For the past 25 years he immersed himself into the fashion world of Paris – only this time, on the other side of the lens, as a fine art, fashion, celebrity and wildlife photographer. Lyon drew inspiration from the cinema especially film noir and German Expressionist cinematography.

In the city of lights, he established himself as a creative impresario, sometimes irreverent, a borderline rebel, walking his own path in the global, fashion photography, arena. Lyon’s work has been exhibited throughout the galleries of Europe, and published in numerous magazines including, Vogue, Vanity Fair and GQ, but mostly in leading art house magazines.

For the past 8 years, Lyon has been in production of a feature documentary film shot Africa called, “Something that Matters”. This poignant documentary takes a raw, first-hand look at the escalating crisis of poaching and corruption, which threatens extinction of the entire Rhino species. Lyon has logged over 1,000 km, on foot, on an exceptional trek in the African Bush in search of the real story behind this crisis.

In 2013 Steven Lyon founded a nonprofit organization aptly named Lyonheartlove. The documentary, is the inaugural project under the auspices of the organization.

After a three-decade stint abroad and in NYC, Steven Lyon has finally returned to his hometown of Los Angeles where he founded and is acting editor in chief of a new art publication named “INDULGE”. It’s an art and image based bi-annual publication catering to film photography profiling master photographers and artist.

Lyon continues his tireless work on the plight of the Rhinos and will be debuting his documentary, “Something That Matters”, in Spring 2023

Wildalps is an incredible photographer from Switzerland, on weekends she spends her days scouting new locations or enjoying the outdoors around areas like the glacier waterfalls close to her home.  We are thankful she was willing to sit down with NFT Culture to talk about her journey into the space:

Please tell us about yourself

I’m a wild & free soul always in contact or connecting with universal energies through meditation, affirmations and my art, where I’m sending out visual meditative impulses of transformation into the universe through my alpine magic realism, looking to manifest world freedom. It’s my calling…artistic vision.
My main artistic channel is photography, where I take inspiration from nature, especially alpine terrain, were I capture grand landscapes, but also more intimite frames and closeups. I believe in showcasing Mother Earth’s true beauty, documenting alpine regions for future generations and nature preservation.
My landscapes are real and can be visited; I do not create composites resp. photo manipulations/collages and just minimal post processing.
My fine art works have been associated with the works of Ansel Adams (from Saatchi Art) and Karl Christian Ludwig Hofer – Magic Realism is my artistic home. I like playing with light and shadow, different perspectives and techniques to hopefully tell emotionally captivating visual stories – it’s my signature.
With my art I’m hoping to take beholders on a journey to higher grounds, were the air is fresh and filled with the scent of new beginnings, portraying the beauty of nature in her purest form, as I’m highly passionate about dramatic alpine landscapes and the magic their giants embody.
In addition, I like to express my artistic energy in writing, which can be found in art descriptions or on my social media feed.
“Creating portals of light drawn on the blockchain,
documenting IRL magic on web3,
building visual bridges between two worlds
through Alpine Magic Realism
to manifest world freedom…
until my last breath.” ~Wildalps

What is the one thing you cannot live without?

Nature, especially alpine terrain and dark Swiss chocolate

Who are your favorite artists?

Ansel Adams (pioneer in landscape photography), Karl Hofer (pioneer in Magic Realism)

Who is your favorite NFT artist?

There are tons of incredible artists in the NFT space who I admire, but Pier @OdysseyHeart stands out. An exceptional wild & free soul who doesn’t let anyone put him in a box. His art is pure self-expression, love & limitlessness. I’m very grateful we met in the space, he inspires me every day.

“Within The Clouds” for 3 ETH,

What made you pursue NFT art?

The NFT art community. I can finally feel save expressing myself and my art amongst likeminded souls, evolve, learn & grow in a way I never felt before…limitless…free through exploring myself more, but also other artistic energies & visions, the tech and all aspects of web3 & decentralization. Our collective dream of independence & freedom feels feasible, although there’s still a lot to build and install, which I’m passionately contributing to (e.g. with my Artist 4 Artist Fund).

What is the one piece of NFT art you wish you had purchased but missed out on?

So far, every piece that I felt was meant for me, I was able to purchase. When I can’t stop thinking about it or can’t sleep, I’m saving up until I can afford it. Not every piece that moved me has to be in my own wallet.

If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go?

I would go everywhere…borderless

What is your advise for other artists:

Celebrate your uniqueness, spread love & support, never stop communicating and go all in. If there’s an important time to take risks, it’s now!
Be wild & free always!

Nicola Grace @ QuantumFreedomNFTs is a Speaker, Author, Social Entrepreneur, Creative, Mission Mentor for conscious entrepreneurs building the new earth. I’m passionate about preserving the majesty of our natural world and making the world work for everyone, not just the few. I’m happy I get to work with people who feel the same way.

Where are you from?

From New Zealand but currently living in Costa Rica.

What is your favorite thing to do on a weekend?

Hang out with friends and adventure into nature.

One thing you cannot live without?

The ability to create.

Who is your favorite artists (Non NFT)?

Sebastião Salgado (Brazilian Photographer)

Who is your favorite NFT artist?

The Pangeans

What made you pursue NFT art?

I have a lot of photos of light and landscapes from years of travelling the world. So I saw the NFT community as a way of using these photos to tell the story of how light can free humanity and transform the world. I think art is a great way to communicate a message, as well as transform us.

What is the one piece of NFT art you wish you had purchased but missed out on?

I don’t have one. I don’t live with regrets. I like to enjoy art in the moment and carry it with me inside myself as it’s touched me. I don’t necessarily need to own it to have the experience of it.

If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go?

I have travelled a lot of the world but the one place I’d like to visit before it could disappear is The Maldives. I love the ocean. Many of our NFT’s are of light kissing the ocean. I see pictures of the Maldives where the light has kissed the ocean, and I just want to dive into the picture.

Anything else you’d like to share?

Annemarie Blades is the Australian graphic artist who joins me in the Quantum Freedom NFT project. Through the various waves of releases of our entire collection we tell the story of light from nature freeing humanity and showing us the way to The New Earth, or Utopia.

The subplot incorporates the 100th Monkey theory of how many minds it takes to change to create a shift in consciousness that leads to a global paradigm shift. As we role out each wave we are also in search of that 100th monkey to join #TeamFreedom and create a global paradigm shift that frees up all of humanity to live their purpose, travel the world, experience prosperity, and live happy lives according to their sovereign free will. Obviously within the boundaries of not directly harming others, the planet or animals.

We do not believe freedom means you can do what you want to whom you want, without concern for others. That would be called Narcissism, which is not freedom. It’s more like addictive behaviour from unhealed wounding. True freedom is the connection to love that allows us to innovate from our greatness to create greatness. Freedom is a state of sovereignty and therefore self responsibility. Freedom is an enlightened state where you recognise your oneness with the all and therefore your actions would consider the greater good of the all from a higher source of wisdom, not a state of fear.

What is the projects launch date? 10th March We Mint. 23rd February we upload to OpenSea for viewing.

How did you come up with the ideas?

I was watching a video on NFT’s for beginners by Crypto Casey. She said something like once you have these NFT’s they can’t be taken away from you. A light bulb moment came on. I had the thought that what if we created NFT’s around the concept of freedom, so at least in the NFT world our Freedom could not taken away from the collectors. It was kind of a fun idea. What Makes this project unique? A couple of things make it unique. Firstly we’re incorporating “power of mind” principles in the NFT’s themselves so they become transformational. I think also we defy the “laws of photography” a bit by not touching up the photos where we’ve captured light that would traditionally be called over exposure and not considered good photography. Yet in the context of our story of the light coming to free humanity, that over exposure carries a lot of beauty and meaning.

How Big is the team and what are their roles? We are a small team right now. Myself and Annemarie are the creators and storytellers. Rochelle Rae is our outreach and social media manager. In the future we’re likely to expand to have some technical experts so we can add utility and other bells and whistles to the project currently above our pay grade.

What is the price? Our NFT’s will launch at between 0.4 – 1.5 ETH. We have some trinity collections that will be around 2.5 to 3 ETH.

Why is that price fair? We’ve done extensive research on pricing and who our target audience is. So we’ve come in around the medium price range and slightly above in some instances. Not as low as some and not as high as others.

Inaugural Collection Features Walter Iooss Jr. Olympic Images

Panama, February 15, 2022 Immutable Image, a photography collective on a mission to build out an ecosystem to empower and support creators, has announced today that it will launch its first NFT storefront on Metaplex, a permissionless on-chain protocol for buying, selling, and auctioning NFTs natively on the Solana blockchain. The inaugural campaign will feature an exhibition from “the Rembrandt of sports photography” Walter Iooss Jr., dubbed ‘Shooting for the Gold.’ This NFT exhibition will drop on February 15th at 6:30 PM ET.

‘Shooting for the Gold’ is derived from a 1982 commission that embedded Iooss for two years with Team U.S.A. Noted as ‘the single greatest assignment’ in his life, Iooss’s NFT offering features iconic shots from this series as well as additional select Olympic-themed photographs. One image captures gymnastic superstar Mary Lou Retton, as she famously wins her first Olympic gold medal. Diving, track, and field events along with boxing also play a prominent role in the collection. Five percent of all gross primary sales for ‘Shooting for the Gold’ will be given to The Boys & Girls Clubs of America through the crypto donation platform, The Giving Block.

“The launch of the marketplace as a whole taps into the overarching cultural moment of NFTs,” said Jeffrey Caldwell, Co-Founder of Immutable Image. “By coming to market with one of the world’s most preeminent photographers, and an NFT marketplace dedicated exclusively to photography, we hope to tap into the culture of bringing distinguished artwork to the masses. Our marketplace will fill a need in the NFT space bringing high-end photography and photographers to fans all in one place.”

Immutable Image’s marketplace is dedicated to bringing a wide range of the best photography and photographers to the metaverse. All NFTs sold are direct and authentic on behalf of the artist. With a mission to create a diverse collector class, they will offer everything from high valued exclusive prints to higher-run lower-cost NFTs. Immutable Image offers photographic works of art for every walk of life and collectors using Metaplex’s auction features such as Open and Limited Editions, Single Items, and Tiered Auctions.

Previously, Immutable Image soft-launched with Iooss’ first photograph of Michael Jordan sold as an Open Edition for just 1 SOL. 100 Editions were minted, and value has increased 500+% in the early aftermarket. They also held a one-of-one auction event with Magic Eden, including five photos featuring Notorious B.I.G., Kate Moss, American platform diver, Greg Louganis, and more to introduce their first notable photographers: Cati Gonzalez, Sante D’Orazio, Wayne Lawrence, and Christopher Anderson. The photographs sold for a sum of 161.5 SOL. Following Iooss’ exhibition, Immutable Image will feature exhibitions from these artists, and they will announce new ones shortly. In addition, partnering with Canon U.S.A., Inc., Immutable Image will bring to market iconic NFTs created by legendary Canon Photographers; this is a first-of-its-kind marketing integration in the NFT space.

“We’re beyond thrilled to be working with Immutable Image as they develop an online gallery for some of the greatest photographers in the world,” said Stephen Hess, CEO of Metaplex Studios. “This collection ushers in a new caliber of NFTs on Solana with high-quality photography that features the most iconic athletes of our time. We believe Immutable Image will lead us into a new era for NFTs and can’t wait for the community to be a part of that.”

Most known for photographing Michael Jordan, Kelly Slater, Tiger Woods, Kobe Bryant, and Muhammad Ali, Iooss is a prominent participant in the sports industry. The blockchain industry has been converging with the sports industry more as of late. Recently, The Brooklyn Nets filed trademarks indicating they may be the first NBA team to fully enter the metaverse while The Staples Center, Home to the Los Angeles Kings, Lakers, Clippers, and Sparks, was renamed Crypto.com Arena in November of 2021. The Metaplex Foundation also received funding support from those involved in the industry, including Michael Jordan, William Wesley, Allen Iverson, Joel Embiid, Kevin Love, Ndamukong Suh and Obi Toppin.

Our good friend Ted’s Little Dream is a treasure.  During a recent spaces we volunteered 5 interview slots to artists he selects.  For his first pick he definitely did not disappoint!  We are honored for the opportunity to interview Heykelseyj, an incredible photographer and NFT artist hailing from Seattle.

Thank you for agreeing to the interview, please tell us about yourself

I’m a Seattle-based photographer and model, with a primary focus on travel and the outdoors. I’m a Canon camera ambassador, and work has been published in The New Yorker and Conde Nast Traveler! In the NFT space, my fine art work focuses on self-portraiture around the world, creating fantasy-like compositions that explore our relationship to nature.

What is your favorite thing to do on a weekend?

Get outdoors! I’ve been learning how to snowboard this winter, but in the summer you’ll find me backpacking or car camping every single weekend.

One thing you cannot live without?

Seems like a cliche answer…but a camera of course! I primarily shoot on my Canon EOS R6.

Who is your favorite artists (Non NFT)?

My first ever favorite artists were the original iconic fashion and portrait photographers. I used to obsessively study the work of Richard Avedon, Herb Ritz, and Annie Leibowitz.

Who is your favorite NFT artist?

I’m blown away by Reuben Wu’s  unique style, process, and story behind his work. Other favorite female NFT artist’s include the incredible Blake Kathryn and Emonee LaRussa

What made you pursue NFT art?

One of my best friends – TedsLittleDream – dropped on Nifty Gateway last March, so after watching that happen and seeing his life change in an instant, I started hopping into Clubhouse rooms to learn more. I think I was immediately intrigued that this was a new way to give artist’s the agency to be compensated for the work they truly love to create. And now, I stay in NFT’s for the incredible community of likeminded new friends.

Wish Upon a Star
On Foundation
2.5 ETH

What is the one piece of NFT art you wish you had purchased but missed out on?

I remember popping into the original reveal party for BAYC, seeing the hype, then saying to myself “nah, 0.5 ETH is too expensive, it’s not worth buying one”. Quite possibly the biggest mistake of my life, ha!

Other than that, I was eyeing a gorgeous moody piece in Taysa George‘s first collection. I sat on it for a couple days waiting for gas to go down, meanwhile it got snatched up by someone else. Major regrets.

If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go?

I’ve got a lot of international travel plans for 2022 I can’t reveal just yet! But outside of those, I am dying to make it to Antartica. One day.

Where can collectors find your art?
