I first connected with NFT Ignition last year, when she found my Damsels collection, and I saw her work with Fame Lady Squad. With both of us Minnesota raised and other life experience connections, I always have felt her to be a warm approachable human with a love for teaching and desire to help others. Her diverse background pre-Web3 further exemplifies this from her work in education to healthcare to working in carnivals (yes, she was a carnie). She understands the humanity behind the technology we are all building and brings empathy and compassion to the forefront while uplifting others.

Since 2020, she has cemented herself as a pillar in the NFT world with being a co-administrator of Fame Lady Squad, co-host of a podcast “From The Blockchain”, building educational materials, founding and curating Women.NFT and has worked on 29 projects and helped over 100 artists mint their first piece. When NFTCulture put out to write about collectors, she was on my short list of who I wanted to interview not only because she is one of my collectors as an artist, but also for how much space and support she gives to so many women from all walks of life in Crypto Art/NFTs. I am grateful for her agreeing to this interview.

How did you get into crypto/nfts?

A comment on Facebook under an article that was paywalled titled ‘the next greatest transfer of wealth’ because you had to pay for the article I simply scanned the comments to see if there was any good info in there. Every single comment was about crypto, mostly Bitcoin. I scrolled through hundreds of comments before I decided ” idk what Bitcoin is, but I need some.”

I first started minting NFTs in 2020 because I thought it was a cute way to flirt with a guy I had a crush on. Over time I sent him perhaps dozens of NFTs that were mostly selfies, but artistic selfies. It sent me down a whole rabbit hole of working with artists and commissioning my own pieces/onboarding them into the NFT space which then led to me creating projects or helping artist create their own projects. Not only did I end up right where I needed to be, in the middle of the NFT space, but even better I recently started dating the guy I sent all those NFTs to.

My main focus right now is on creating digestible educational materials for all learning types and figuring out a way to scale it. We don’t have one way to teach math, we have at least 8 ways to teach just multiplication, we need the same resources for the NFT space. Long term that goal includes summer camps for kids, they would be a choose your adventure type camp where you can choose to learn about anything from 3d digital art/blender, to contract auditing, to archery and swimming. I want to have a wide range of web3 content, but also digital art and mix that with all the typical summer camp activities. I would love to see schools incorporate these types of courses, but as a former teacher I know that is not going to happen anytime soon.

How did you get involved in Fame Lady Squad and would you like to share a little about your journey with that project?

When FLS launched it was run by a team of all men who lied and claimed they were all women, once this was found out the community was devastated. Artchick actually reached out and convinced them to send the project to the community, and then the community chose me, boredbecky, and data to be the ones to take care of it from there. It was really a wild ride, taking over a project with 0 funding, that had a large active community behind it.

As an avid collector, what advice would you give to projects/artists? What advice would you give to other collectors?

When you come into the space, do not worry about investing any money, you should first only invest your time. Spend a few months researching before making your first purchase or starting your project.

Who are some of your biggest inspirations in the scene and why?

@twerkyclub, one of the first people I saw building a community around his NFT project, long before bored apes minted.  I watched his hard work change the entire NFT space around me

@kennethbosak was the person who gave me my first speaking position, and convinced me it was something I wanted to do.  He saw something in me before I had even seen it.

3 artists you love in crypto art and why?

My favorite artist change all the time, as the space is always growing and new artist emerge, but I have recently been partial to @camibusNFT, I just love the recurrent theme of the long legs that come to a point, they are so graceful yet so isolated/disconnected from the world below them @izzyalright for her ability to depict emotions in a way that goes way beyond words @lambieartist for her bold colors and personality that really is just a whole vibe all around.

Any tips for newcomers to the space?

Safety should be the first thing you research as you get into the space, set yourself up correctly from the beginning to avoid heartache later on. Hardware wallets, dedicated computers, metal seed storage, multisigs, these are all things you should fully understand, or implement before putting large amounts of money into your wallets.

Where do you see the future of crypto art/nfts going?

At some point, I don’t believe we will even call them NFTs anymore. How often do we talk about the underlying technology we are using everyday? I think people will have multiple apps on their phones for different types of NFTs, maybe one for hotel rewards and room keys, one for your local coffee shop etc. Where they are using NFTs without even realizing they are NFTs.

sutu eats flies release

Sutu is an XR Artist/Storyteller who is the creator of the 10k Tezos collection Neonz, co-founder of Eye Jack App, TED Speaker and soon to be releasing his latest incarnation of his project – Circuit Breaker.

Circuit Breaker

The Sutuverse is a Web3 playground exploring the possibilities of NFT powered interactive experiences including AR, webGL and later in the year some VR.  On July 6, Sutu premiered to the world his new Neonz game ‘Circuit Breaker’ at the Proof of People exhibition at Fabric in London. The team had a computer terminal set up at the exhibition where visitors were able to play the game as a number of Neonz avatars and battled their way through a neon maze of obstacles to get the fastest time.  Additionally, at the exhibition Sutu showcased  ‘Neonz Facez’ – an interactive AR installation where visitors stand before a large 75 inch screen that is mounted with an iPhone. They were able to activate any one of his 10000 Neonz cyberpunk AR face filters.

As the next evolution of The Sutuverse – Circuit Breaker is a browser-based speed run game. Sutu is aiming to launch the game publicly in the next few weeks. Launch date TBA, keep an eye on Sutuverse.com for updates. This is a Tezos based project, so users will be able to sync their Tezos wallets and then purchase a Neonz coin to play the game. For folks who own a Neonz already your Neonz will materialize as a full body 3d avatar. In game, they will have the option to customize and pimp out their Neonz with a bunch of new accessories. If you don’t own a Neonz, you can play as a nude base model, but will miss out on a few perks.

This is a huge achievement technologically Sutu is proud of because in his words not only is this first release finished but “we figured out how to get all 10000 Neonz avatars loading in the game and also on peoples faces using AR – still can’t believe how smoothly that works.” In the long term this is a world building project, and since Sutu comes from a story-telling background, he is excited to further release his long wishlist of new features and lore as the Sutuverse evolves and grows.

The mice must unite on a quest to save their world and fight off the encroaching darkness…

FOR MANY SEASONS THE MICE OF THE FOREST OF ‘ETH HAVE LIVED IN HARMONY WITH NATURE…

WHEN THAT CHANGES, THE MICE-AT-ARMS WILL BE READY TO DEFEND THEIR HOMES!

Tiny Legends are tribes of unique digital collectibles living on the Ethereum blockchain. We have chosen to produce smaller runs of NFT of 999 each so that we can concentrate on the finer details rather than a mass produced product.

What is the project’s launch date?

Tuesday, July 20th 2021

How did you come up with the idea for this project?

The world of Tiny Legends has been knocking around in our minds for many years. The idea of a fantasy world inhabited by cute but extremely badass creatures is very appealing!

Nicodemus and I are brothers and we grew up on the stories of Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH, House Of Tribes, and even the Redwall series. I think as an artist, you collect little pieces of inspiration throughout your life until eventually, it all comes together in a single expression.

What Makes this project unique?

Many other collectible projects focus on bold 2D illustrations that feature traits that are wildly eclectic. What we wanted to try was to bring hyper-detailed 3D characters to life, but give them the same amount of variation and unique characteristics as the 2D creations that creators have produced. Our background in game design has also helped to shape how we presented the project, and have started to build the world of Tiny Legends.

How Big is the team and what are their roles?

We are a team of two! I (Relic Artist) am the artist, while Nicodemus handles the technical side of the project including the creating the custom tools that we used to create this collection. We each bring a very unique spin to all the projects that we do.

What is the price?

The price for our Series 1 pieces are fixed at 0.07 ETH.

Why is that price fair?

We looked at many other collectible projects and compared them before coming up with our price. For us, it was a case of making sure that the price was low enough that many people can buy into our vision and the world – but also not too low as to devalue the amount of work that went into each piece.

Pricing art is always a difficult thing to do, but I think our price point is fair!

What is the Mint Size?

All of our series in the Tiny Legends will be exactly 999 pieces of art. We think that curated exclusivity is extremely important to art and want early adopters to maximize their investment!

Are there any mechanics we should know about?

We have tied the NFTs into a shared world-building website, where collectors can name their critters, as well as create a unique backstory for each NFT that they own. The idea of collective storytelling through the use of NFT collectibles is extremely exciting for us! This is all facilitated on our website at mytinylegends.com

WhelpS NFT Hero

WhelpS is an exciting new project from an experienced team of NFT entrepreneurs.  We recently sat down with the team to learn more about this project and what makes it truly unique.  There are a number of new things going on with this project from the hatching, growing, and more.  Each of these new steps in the process can allow for additional rarity traits and more.  We were excited to sit down with the team and learn more about this new project.

What is the projects launch date?

We are aiming for our sale to drop between July 23rd and 27th. The date should be officially set in the next few days.

How did you come up with the ideas?

We were discussing how odd it was that with the seemingly endless run of new PFPs, no one had done dragons yet. As we thought about dragons, we though how cool it would be to see them grow up from babies into adult ones.

What Makes this project unique?

#1 – The art style. We decided to try and separate ourselves from the pack, we would employ a return to more traditional fantasy illustration, but in a way where we didn’t distance ourselves too much from the current model everyone loves. We have one artist who hand-drew every single dragon for the first three ages (216 drawings) and then 48 styles of horns and 48 different types of breath – which will be combined to the rest by code. The 60 backgrounds available were done in a more digital fashion by our second artist, to give people a bit of that “avatar” style feel. We feel the combination is definitely unique and provides a really nice aesthetic.

#2 – The blockchain technology. This project is the first we know of, not just in the NFT space but the blockchain space as a whole, which is taking advantage of the consistent pattern of miners and blocks to introduce trustless scheduling – or, a method by which to trigger time-sensitive events with no external interactions.

How Big is the team and what are their roles?

The WhelpS team is composed of a couple Bored Apes, whose role is to oversee the direction, marketing and community-building aspects of the project. We have two artists, along with a graphic designer. Finally, all technology is provided to us from the team at MasterBrews, who have been awesome to work with and really know what they are doing on that front.

What is the price?

0.0777 ETH each. No bonding curve or FOMO tiers.

Why is that price fair?

It seems that most successful projects fall around the 0.06 – 0.08 mark these days and we feel from the art, to the new technology used, to even our road map items; we are providing supporters with real short-term and long-term value.

What is the Mint Size?

7,777. The sale will only last 77 hours and there will never be a second chance to mint nor will the sale be extended even if it does not sell out.

Are there any mechanics we should know about?

The evolution mechanic, of course! Once you mint your WhelpS, you immediately receive 1 of 60 random backgrounds with 1 of 6 random eggs. This is an indicator of your breed, which are provably random and of different rarities. Every 30 hours, with no interaction by holder or us (no scripts, calling of contract functions, etc…) the NFT will change in appearance and acquire a new trait, again provably random and of different rarities.

We think this makes for a very exciting secondary market experience, as traders have to constantly make decisions on if they gamble and hold an early rare for potentially more value as the next stage approaches, or try to sell before potentially losing value. Those getting an early common, still have hope it can hit rare traits in future evolution stages, increasing their value.

Besides the reasons mentioned above, why else would your project offer value to a collector?

There is value in being “the first” to do something. Once this technology is released, we expect numerous projects to start copying it – the code is public, per the nature of Smart Contracts. But, WhelpS will always have their place in NFT history as the ones who did it first. We believe collectors will see value in that.

Following the parabolic rise of NFT projects like Bored Ape Yacht Club, much focus has been around finding the “next” NFT project.  There has basically been a Zoo’s worth of Animal drops and a Demonic ARPG worth of demons, skeletons, and monsters.  With so many collectible avatar projects launching it’s hard to know which are going to succeed and which are going to fail.  Flying under our radar was the incredibly successful Cool Cats NFT Project.

Why Cool Cat NFTs bucked the recent trends

Like many recent NFT Avatars, this project looked doomed. The market was flooded with 10k+ NFT drops coming sometimes multiple times a day.  In fact, the project appeared to be stalling when the creators did something genious.  Instead of letting the project sputter out at .06 ETH.  The team lowered the price of each cat to .02 (and refunding collectors who already minted) allow the project to regain momentum in the market.

After the sellout, it became obvious that the Cool Cats NFTs provided the perfect storm of utility, uniqueness, and the requirements needed to be a great PFP and ultimately become desired by the market.  Similar to the BAYC, the project began taking off and celebrities like Mike Tyson have joined the NFT space making the Cool Cats his PFP on twitter as of this writing.  Now the Cool Cats NFTs floor sits safely above .5 ETH and may be destined for greater success in the near future.  Keep an eye out, you never know when the next big project will come.

What are the Cool Cats?

Cool Cats are a collection of programmatically, randomly generated NFTs on the Ethereum blockchain. The 1st generation consists of 10,000 randomly assembled cats from over 300k total options. Cool Cats that have a variety of outfits, faces and colors – all cats are cool, but completed outfit cats are the coolest. Each Cool Cat is comprised of a unique body, hat, face and outfit – the possibilities are endless!

Why Cool Cats NFTs are Cool

Aside from participating in one the freaking coolest, curated but randomized NFT projects to date and getting a kick butt profile picture – you can help us evolve and build the future of Cool Cats. We’re giving back 20% of all ETH raised to the community (through contests, raffles, and more) – because we genuinely want Cool Cats to be a community driven and centric project. By getting a Cool Cat you have a voice in the community and can help guide the direction of the project. We’ll need help from you guys to determining specifics for future developments like breeding, next generation Cool Cats, the app, and much more!
